STIRKS

J36 saw a flyer for the stirks, the trade had plenty of perk and a hint of quirk.
Buyers were plenty and keen to lurk, bidding away with a seasonal smirk.
Good sorts did the work, giving prices a steady upward jerk, on the previous week.
The steer section did not shirk, with Limousin steers making vendors irk with delight.
Plainer types took a little more work but still found homes without hitch or kirk.
But still a very good trade, offering a modest perk.

Topping todays trade with a quality Limousin steer was GC&G Taylor, Crook making £1680.
Trade was very good all round, and demand for more is increasing all the time.

Averages:
Steers £1298.
Bulls £1170.
Heifers £1040.

STORE CATTLE

All in on store cattle.

Trade today was another high stakes affair at Junction 36, with buyers showing their hand early and maintaining strong competition throughout. Confidence around the ring was evident, with all types of cattle attracting firm and consistent demand.
Leading the way Aberdeen Angus bullocks topping at £2340 from GM Strong, while eleven month old steers from RJ Walling sold to £2300. British Blue bullocks peaked at £2120 from I Atkinson & Son matched by S Bosworth with Limousin to the same level. Fleckvieh bullocks reached £2000 from RF&CE Hodgson.
Heifers met an equally determined ringside with Angus topping at £2200 from A&P Hodgkinson and Limousin to £2100 from T&D Wright.
Young bulls were another strong trade topping at £2180 for a British Blue from JA&J Harper. Angus bulls sold to £2140 from BJ Bowness, while the Limousin section was topped by JM&NJ Strickland with a single. The odds remain stacked firmly in the vendors favour.
